Gabriel’s resides in the architecturally noteworthy Manhart Manor, which, told by Mr. Manhart to Matthew and Jan Bundy, was constructed in 1889. The building’s original purpose was to house the distinguished Manhart family who ran the local mercantile business. George and Bertha Manhart, along with their thirteen children, lived in this notable Victorian home of Sedalia during the store’s operation.
In 1983, the residence at 5450 Manhart St. (State Highway 67) was transformed from a merchant’s home into an elegant dining establishment. While maintaining its historical appearance, the building was augmented with several additional rooms. In August 1985, the Manhart Manor was opened to the public as Gabriel’s Northern Italian Restaurant and remains a focal point of Sedalia to this day.
The family owned and operated Gabriel’s has been overseen by Matthew Bundy since its opening. Matthew, who has worked as manager, maitre’d and now as owner, along with his wife, Jan, have a sincere appreciation for their restaurant and their clients’ experience.
Gabriel’s is owned and operated by Matthew and Jan Bundy who have been serving Douglas County and the greater Denver area for over twenty years. The husband and wife team lend an air of consistency to the dining experience at Gabriel’s. Many repeat customers trust Gabriel’s with their most special occasions, knowing that they will be cared for by the same expert team upon each visit.
The Gabriel’s “family” extends through the entire staff of the restaurant. Tony Sanabria has been Gabriel’s executive chef since 1993. His mastery of the culinary arts has perpetuated Gabriel’s unique and outstanding four course entrees and delectable desserts.
Gabriel’s wait staff pride themselves in their hospitality and outstanding service, prompting many clients to specifically ask for their wait staff member by name during subsequent dining visits. Their impeccable tuxedoed attire lends the final air of elegance to the Gabriel’s manor house atmosphere.
